THE EMBRACE

Vampires are created through the embrace. The Embrace is similar to a normal vampiric feeding - the vampire drains their chosen prey of blood. However, once the mortal is "empty", the vampire feeds the mortal a little of their own blood. Only a tiny bit, just a drop or two, is enough to rouse the new creation enought to latch onto its sire's wrist (or whatever) and turns the mortal into another vampire.

This new creation is called a Progeny. The experience is different for everyone. It ranges from fear and confusion to revulsion and terror to lust and exhileration. The pain that comes with the transformation is singular, if not consistant. It is there, but apparently in varying degrees. Sweet to some, terrible to others. The death that may come from the kiss of the Kindred is gentle. The darkness is soft and the light is warm. If the mortal was not given the lifeblood, the soul would float to the light and go to whatever place it was destined to. There is no pain in this, it seems as a distant dream fading with the mind.

But if the blood is given and recieved, the pain begins and with it comes the change and the hunger. And the Beast.
