Along with the facination of living forever, our culture has an inate fear of becomming dinner. The victimization of our society plays along those lines as well. It brings out those fears we would like to keep hidden under the covers late a night while watching a black and white feature. Unfortunately for them, the greater danger is in thier own minds.
